The Civil War in South Carolina
As I once again plunge into the history of the Civil War in South Carolina, I notice more and more internet articles that touch on my research. Some of them inform my next book, "Damed Yankee" while others remind me of incidents in "Beyond All Price," "Left by the Side of the Road," and "The Road to Frogmore." I'm collecting them here for my own information and to fill my readers in on stories about Civil War history they may not have heard in school. Today's article goes beyond South Carolina to call attention to a new TV series on the Civil War. Find it at http://www.scoop.it/t/civil-war-in-south-carolina

Earlier today, I read a lament by a good friend who had suddenly discovered that her backspace key no longer worked. What could be wrong? The answer, she found, was something like three million cat hairs that had collected around the key. I was sympathetic because the same thing happens around Katzenhaus Books, where five cats take turns causing havoc on my desk.
Then I spent some time reading other Facebook posts and discovered this little gem! The article is such a favorite that I’m featuring it all by itself on one of my curated ScoopIt pages.
On "The Historian's Point of View: The Experiences of the Past, Seen through Current Events, " I collect articles about the craft of history -- new discoveries, new methods, new controversies.
Paws, Pee and Mice: Cats among Medieval Manuscripts
This story was such a hit last February that it well-deserves re-publication. Every cat-owning writer will recognize the dangers and the warnings included here.
