Since most folks are busy this weekend, I'm postponing substantive articles until next week. Instead here are a few RBOC* items:
*Hope everyone is staying cool and enjoying a holiday break. (For Lions Friends headed for Seattle, make that "staying warm"!) We're missing the International Convention this year, but gearing up for the USA/Canada Leadership Forum in Anchorage in September. See you guys then.
*We'll be spending our holiday near home, working on our club's annual fishing rodeo tomorrow morning. Please keep fingers crossed that the rain holds off until noon. Little kids who don't catch a fish are sad enough. Worse are having a bunch of wet, cold, and bedraggled little kids who can't catch a fish because they are all hiding at the bottom of the lake.
*Birds have taken to sheltering from the heat in a hedge right outside my office window. That encourages cats to climb the bookshelf to watch -- and results in books on the floor. Last night I cleared off the entire top of the shelf so they could have a front row seat. So where are the cats this morning? Out in the living room, asleep in the sun.

*Helen Hollick's Pirate Blog Tour is underway. I'll be posting a short column about the third book in her series tomorrow (or maybe tonight).
*Then, be sure to come back on Wednesday, July 6th, when Helen will be here to talk with me about her new venture in self-publishing. She has interesting thoughts to share about what makes a book sell well, no matter how you publish it.
*Helen will also be awarding a free copy of Sea Witch to one person who leaves a comment on the blog on Wednesday. So be sure to stop by and say "Hi!"
*Gullah Wednesday will also take the week off, returning on July 13th.
