No, I have no intention of being up at midnight tonight to start writing the final 22,000 words of "Yankee Reconstructed." Others may do so if they like. I plan to start tomorrow morning after a good breakfast and that all-important second cup of coffee.
Still, there is a certain amount of excitement building. I've now met my cabin mates. We have 12 women, ranging from age 13 to my own well-advanced 76 years. All told there are three women "of a certain age," which in this case means to me that they have been writing for a long time and have a number of works to their credit.
Next we have five "younger" women, who might, if the shoe were on a different foot, be described as having a mid-life crisis. They have families and careers, but there's something missing. They are the ones who are now saying, "I've always wanted to write a book."
And then there are the four impossibly young women -- teenagers all -- who have gigantic dreams of fantasy and romance. I'm sure they all intend to write circles around the rest of us. We shall see!
